Carpet Beetles

Carpet BeetlesCarpet Beetles are common pests of articles of animal origin in homes. The larvae feed on carpets, underfelt, fur products, wool, silk and hair. They will also feed on dried meat products, cereals and dried insects.

Cut flowers to be used in houses should be examined for carpet beetles, as this is a significant cause of their distribution.

Soiled clothing, even if of synthetic fibres, should be washed before storage. They are strong fliers and spread quickly from one area to another.
